Silver Age Mega Man X (Mega Man Tribute) by Cyber-Kun Silver Age Mega Man X (Mega Man Tribute) by Cyber-Kun
So, here it is finally, my submission for Udon Comics' Mega Man Tribute book, coming out next week! This piece was inspired by Silver Age comics in general, more specifically Jack Kirby. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of work, although looking back, I really wish I did more on the background. I flipped through some early jack Kirby stuff I had from the sixties and some of the splash pages didn't have a lot of background, so I went off that. You can find my piece on page 230 of the book

High quality prints are for sale, please message me

MEGA MAN TRIBUTE LIMITED EDITION HARDCOVER
-the book is premiering at the San Diego Comic-con at the UDON booth (#5037), July 20-24
-for fans not attending the show, you can preorder the book at UDONstore.com ([link] )

MEGA MAN TRIBUTE SOFTCOVER
- The standard softcover edition is also available for preorder on amazon.com ([link] )

EDIT: I do have a limited number of high quality 9 x 12 prints left, Capcom allowed us to make 200 copies, if anyone is interested in one, please send me a note. I don't have much left and once they're gone, they're gone! They look great in person, BTW.

Mega Man X in the silver age comics. Pure Awesome! I'd read that.

It WOULD be cool if there was a 22 page book.

Awesome art, great Kirby homage. Megaman X himself looks like he would be at home in one of the Fourth World books. I could totally see a Jack Kirby Megaman X comic.
Any plans for a classic Megaman in kirby silver-age style?

It's funny, while I was researching my fourth world books and my Mega Man X Complete works, there's a LOT of similar design styles, use of wild colours and crazy tech. It wasn't that difficult to transition the styles and designs really (as much as I could to imitate the King).

Probably no more in this style these days as the King's work (as much as I love him) fights against my current drawing styles, and I feel trying to ape him too much makes the overall illustration lifeless and stiff (which is the opposite of Jack's work). It was a fun one-off, and maybe if I doodle something that could work, I may revisit it (Kirby tech Ride armors?) But for the time being, nay for classic. I'd feel it would turn too much into Bad box art Mega Man.

Thank you! That krackle is actually the hardest part for me. I have an incredibly hard time grasping it.

It was tricky, and I'm still not really happy how it turned out... I may revisit it sometime in the future.
